TV comedy panel shows
codes and conventions of TV comedy panel shows:
- Before the host of the show comes on you can hear the audience clapping and cheering a long.
- The background of the set is usually the name of the TV show
- The way the show is set out is two large desks which represent two teams and usually one smaller desk in the middle to represent the host.
- There's different camera angels throughout the show, e.g. it first zooms into the host and shows them walking in and taking their seat or introducing the show,it then either zooms or cuts into the audience whilst the host arrives and shows them clapping and cheering along, then zooms/cuts to the contestants whilst they're introduced one by one.
Typical TV panel show is usually 30 to 60 minutes long, they're usually on after 9pm, as this would appeal to there target audience as they use crude language throughout the show. The hosts on most of the panel shows are instantly recognizable for most of the people watching the show e.g. celebrity juice is Keith Lemon and 8 out of 10 cats is Jimmy Carr.

this is the cast from 8 out of 10 cats and the host is Jimmy Carr, his face is instantly recognizable, then the other two people are the captains of the two teams and they're on every episode, so when people watch it, they're recognizable.
